Autumn Term Homework Challenges
Reading at Home:
Children are encouraged to practise applying sounds to read as frequently as possible at home. Lots of practise will result in your child developing confidence to segment and blend the sounds to read simple words and in time apply these to read simple story books.
A reading record can be found in your child’s book bag. It should be completed by an adult to record reading at home.
Your child will be sent home with phonic packs or sound blending books which directly match to the sounds that your child knows.
Other useful books that are recommended for Reception age children are listed upon our "50 Recommended Reads". Many of these books are available to loan from our school Library, Airedale Library or will be sent home each week with our Reading Mascot. These texts would be perfect for a bedtime story.
