About Us

The aims, policies and practices of Airedale Infant School are designed to create a vibrant and exciting learning community where everyone can develop a love of learning and experience success.

We place great emphasis upon developing and maintaining a highly positive whole school ethos. We strive to ensure that our 'can do' culture is constantly evident throughout school.

School Organisation

Nursery

We have a 78 place Nursery with 39 children attending in the morning and the same number in the afternoon.
There are 180 places in main school, organised into 6 classes of 30 pupils. The classes are organised into classes as below:

Reception Sprites
Reception Pixies
Year 1 Sprites
Year 1 Pixies
Year 2 Sprites
Year 2 Pixies

By law, the maximum infant class size is 30.

Organisation of the school day.
Session times

Nursery 

Morning 8.45am - 11.45am 
Afternoon 12.15pm - 3.15pm

Nursery children attend for a total of 15 hours per week. 

Main school

Upper Foundation & Key Stage 1:
9.00am - 10:45am Morning Sessions
10:45am - 11:00am Morning Break
11:00am - 12:00pm Morning Sessions Continued
12.00pm - 1:00pm Lunch Break
1.00pm - 3.00pm Afternoon Sessions

Upper Foundation and Key Stage 1 children attend for a total of 30 hours per week. 

Doors open at 8.50am to enable to bring children into school, allowing a prompt start to the working day at 9.00am.

Assemblies take place daily and children in main school have a morning break followed by a snack. The children do not have a break in the afternoon so that learning can be continuous.

All of our children in Reception - Year 2 are entitled to a Universal Infant Free School Meal and have their lunch in the hall, they may alternatively bring a packed lunch from home. If children bring a packed lunch, we ask parents to consider healthy options and not to include sweets and chocolate. We provide your child with a school water bottle in September, please ensure you send your child to school with their water bottle.
